Mental Health Care
Mental health impacts all of us. The phrase "hurt people hurt people" isn't just a saying, it has real meaning behind it. Those who have dealt with traumatic issues will take that hurt out on the people they love, sometimes in devastating ways.
Here is what I would like to see change:
Insurance companies eliminate the red tape that makes billing and treating patients so difficult that many therapists are moving to a cash pay model
Include monthly mental health care appointments as part of preventative care, and are covered by insurance as such
Provide increased access to mental health care services in schools, not just through guidance counselors, but through education on mental health
Expand access to mental health care services for veterans
Increase educational support to those who want to go into the mental health care field
Provide comprehensive drug rehabilitation services to those in need, including the homeless and incarcerated
