Mental Health Care

Mental health impacts all of us. The phrase "hurt people hurt people" isn't just a saying, it has real meaning behind it. Those who have dealt with traumatic issues will take that hurt out on the people they love, sometimes in devastating ways.

Here is what I would like to see change:

  • Insurance companies eliminate the red tape that makes billing and treating patients so difficult that many therapists are moving to a cash pay model

  • Include monthly mental health care appointments as part of preventative care, and are covered by insurance as such

  • Provide increased access to mental health care services in schools, not just through guidance counselors, but through education on mental health

  • Expand access to mental health care services for veterans

  • Increase educational support to those who want to go into the mental health care field

  • Provide comprehensive drug rehabilitation services to those in need, including the homeless and incarcerated
